When you move to The Netherlands for work, you may be obliged to arrange personal health insurance. This becomes a requirement when you are considered a Dutch resident. Whilst the health insurance you choose can vary considerably in terms of it’s coverage, a good place to start is with the basic insurance (known as basisverzekering).
The principle is that all Dutch residents should have unrestricted rights to this basic insurance. As such, it is legally forbidden for a health insurance company to refuse your application on the basis of your age or medical history. It is also forbidden to add premiums to the basis insurance package, although the package price may change on the basis of the amount of excess you are willing to accept on your policy.
The government makes periodic changes to what is covered by the basic health insurance, but the present coverage includes:

During your assignment in the Netherlands you also require a private health insurance policy. This is a legal requirement due to the fact that you are socially insured in the Netherlands. You can have this arranged through us as we have a partnership with HollandZorg (www.hollandzorg.com). The basic policy is mandatory and is € 88,23 per month for 2015. If you choose to have the insurance through HollandZorg we will deduct the monthly premium from your net salary. Of course you are free to choose any health insurance provider you want.
